Review: 2012 Ford F150 EcoBoost surprises with performance and efficiency

Whenever someone thinks about America and the auto industry, one of the first things to remember is a pickup truck: a car that is synonymous with our culture, like a little roadster for the UK, or a showroom for Germany. And when someone thinks of a pickup truck, the final word for a purchase in this segment is likely to be the notorious Ford F150. This should be taken into account, given that the manufacturer from Dearborn invented the car when in 1925 they launched the Ford Model T Runabout with a pickup truck. Not to mention the fact that the F150 is undoubtedly one of the most iconic cars in the history of the automotive industry. He received a number of amazing awards, such as America’s best-selling car in 24 years and the best-selling truck in 34 years.

However, the Ford F150 can be considered the car that “built” America, just as Jeremy Clarkson showed the world that Ford Transit “built” the UK. No matter where you go you will always find some generation and some kind of Ford F150 working on utilitarian things. I can continue to talk about the relevance of the F150, but that would be similar to how I reason about how famous Mr. Henry Ford is himself – well, thanks, Captain Evidence.

But, in truth, I have very little personal experience with pickups in my short time on Earth. The first and last detailed pickup I comprehensively managed was the 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9L Magnum V8. And although the ram was uncomfortable, bold and tedious to drive — in addition to the terrible fuel economy that never reached 15 mpg, the commander’s view of the rams on the road made it an interesting and exciting activity, and practicality is difficult to outweigh,  given that Baran helped me move back and forth between college and home. Subsequently, the last pickup I ever drove completely before this review was the 2005 SuperCrew Ford F150 King Ranch, complete with the best-of-a-kind 5.4L Triton V8 during my work with a used car dealer. In addition, pickups never attracted my taste for sophisticated and fun driving and luxury cars.
