The all-new, Nürburgring-tuned 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT arrives as America’s i30

Hyundai revealed the all-new i30 hatch for Europe in Paris last year and now, it’s bound for America as the 2018 Elantra GT.

What’s going on?

A relatively quiet, but the fourth largest car dealership in North America is currently taking place. Despite the fact that at the Chicago Motor Show, despite the smallest lag behind Detroit, Los Angeles and New York, he still manages to show a few things up his sleeve.

What’s new about it?

If the 2018 Elantra GT looks familiar, it’s because Hyundai introduced it as the i30 in Paris last year. The Elantra GT, clearly targeting the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Honda Civic, gets a much more sophisticated and aggressive design. But not only that, it offers a whole list of updates, which makes it extremely competitive on paper.

For example, the Elantra GT has greater internal capacity than any of its competitors. It is also 61 pounds lighter and 22 percent structurally stiffer due to the more diverse use of materials. The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT also had its handling and ride, specially tuned to the famous Nurburgring. Further reinforcing the argument for control, a much more advanced fully independent device with several links replaces the rear torsion beam of the previous model.
