The 2018 Lexus LS takes on a more dramatic design

Lexus reveals the hotly anticipated, next-generation Lexus LS flagship sedan at the 2017 North American International Auto Show.

What’s the matter?

Believe it or not, the current generation Lexus LS flagship sedan has been working with us for over 10 years. So it’s time to replace it.

But now that the Detroit Auto Show is taking place in 2017, Toyota’s luxury subsidiary has finally unveiled the all-new 2018 Lexus LS sedan of the new generation at the Cobo Center in Detroit. And you can already say that much more.

With the new 2018 Lexus LS design, it follows the whole trend of using a more “coupe-like” design thanks to its long, low and sloping roof line. Then the brand’s latest corporate front end and “spindle grill” are required to create the most aggressive looking Lexus LS.

So Lexus is finally replacing the aging LS. Sweet! What’s new about it?

In addition to the new design, the new LS is built from the ground up on a completely new platform. Thanks to the new foundations, Lexus was able to focus on handling, agility and comfort so as not to jeopardize the LS’s reputation or be a luxury sedan.

For example, the new LS comes with the world’s first Lexus enhanced security suite. It includes a long list of passive and active safety technologies, such as active steering with pedestrian detection. It works with the LS electric power steering and lane control system and helps drivers avoid accidents.

Unfortunately, the legendary Lexus 4.6L V8 is a thing of the past. In its place is the first ever twin-turbo Toyota and Lexus V6 with 415 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a 0-60 result is just 4.5 seconds for a rear-wheel drive model.
