What’s going on?
General Motors Europe introduced the next-generation Opel Insignia. And although it’s cute and cool for Europe, this is not just another case of the forbidden fruit. Like the current and future outgoing Buick Regal generation, it is based on the outgoing Insignia, and not so long ago GM promised to continue this recipe.
This means that the Insignia you see on the screen will ultimately become our next Regal. Happy Days!
Ok, so it obviously looks great. What’s new about it?
The new 2018 Opel Insignia begins with a completely new platform designed from the ground up. Despite the fact that the dimensions of the outgoing car are used as a starting point, the new model is increasing in size, especially on a wheelbase, to increase the space in the cabin.
As a result, a new platform has appeared. The body takes on a smoother and more streamlined profile. Inspired by the Monza concept, the Insignia looks less upright than the car it replaces. The current model has always been a beautiful car, but it seems that stylists at Opel really knocked this model out of the park.
Thanks to its stylish design, the 2017 Opel Insignia has a drag coefficient of only o.26 cd. Weight also decreases by 175 kilograms, or about 386 pounds.
