The Porsche Panamera wagon gets the green light and will come to the US

Well, it seems these rumors and speculations were true, as the Panamera station wagon has just received the green light for production.

The message came from AutomotiveNews, which received news from Porsche Cars North America CEO Klaus Zellmer.

“We need a little patience for [the car] to arrive in the US,” Zellmer said. “But we are confident that this car will be well received here, despite the fact that this country does not really like hatchbacks or station wagons.”

They say that the new Panamera gets a completely new platform, and therefore this version of the station wagon should be built on the same chassis as the second-generation Panamera, of course. This also means that the wagon will have the same engine options available as the sedan. By design, the car will strongly resemble the Sport Turismo concept.

The next generation Porsche Panamera will debut at the Paris Motor Show later this September, and the sedan will go on sale sometime in 2017. The car will appear in a year.
