All-New 2018 Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 diesel engine comes from Jaguar-Land Rover

It’s no secret that the best-selling Ford F-150 receives an oil burner, so it is not surprising that the company supplies the device from Europe. An anonymous source at Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) said the truck will receive JLR-based diesel. He is probably a descendant of the Lion V6 diesel engine, which was created as a joint venture between Ford and Peugeot in 1999. Although Ford sold Tata to the Indian company in 2008, the JLR has since been developing more and more advanced variants of the Ford V6 diesel engine. In addition to improving efficiency and emissions, the JLR breathes on the engine to keep it properly lubricated at odd angles off-road.

Currently built in Wolverhampton, UK, the injected Common Rail ‘six is likely to emit 254 hp. and 443 ft-lbs of crank torque. This suggests that the engine is pretty much the same as the device in the current Land Rover Discovery. Presumably building up production to increase demand, the Wolverhampton plant expects to recruit another 700 employees, so there is little evidence that this is where the engine will come from.
