Report: Apple reportedly to buy McLaren Automotive, McLaren denies rumor

Some fairly groundbreaking news came from the Financial Times, which reported that tech giant Apple could acquire McLaren Automotive. This caused a real stir among the media, as the world’s largest consumer electronics company is doing something remotely reminiscent of the purchase of a well-known supercar manufacturer – just crazy.

But in an interesting turn, McLaren completely denied the rumors after a direct request from Yalopnik.

FT reported for the first time that the deal could be worth £ 1.5 billion. But neither Apple nor McLaren commented on the outlet deal.

McLaren is not only a company that produces the famous P1 and other high-end supercars such as the 650S. There is also a huge division of McLaren in Formula 1.

Apple’s interest lies in McLaren technologies, mainly in consulting on engineering strategies and patents. This sounds quite plausible given that Apple is serious about building its own cars. However, taking a step from creating the best-selling smartphones and personal computers to creating a car is not an easy task.

So Apple, no matter how inventive and resourceful, they still need help. His automotive project is tentatively named Project Titan.

In response to a request, Jalop McLaren Automotive denied all the rumors.

“We can confirm that McLaren is not discussing any potential investments with Apple,” Jalopnik said in an explicit email reply. “It’s not like that at all. There is no chatter, no acquisition. ”
