The next Jeep Wrangler goes on a diet, to utilize more aluminum

The new Jeep Wrangler’s doors, hood, and body will incorporate Alcoa 6022 grade sheet aluminum.

The jeep is reportedly making some radical changes to the new Wrangler. Some problems appeared on the Wranger enthusiast forum, which suggests that more aluminum will be used in the next-generation model. The goal is to reduce the weight of the Wrangler in order to improve fuel economy and handling.

According to a report discovered by MotorTrend, doors and hood are the main recipients of lighter material. However, the use of aluminum is not limited to only these parts of the body. The original report suggests that aluminum will be included in the body and design of the next Wrangler.

According to rumors, in addition to the increased use of aluminum, diesel, pickup and hybrid options may appear in the next version. A new Hurricane turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic have already been confirmed.

While this may seem like a way to move Wrangler into the future, some stubborn Jeep enthusiasts have expressed their concern. Wrangler is known for its longevity and off-road capabilities. This reputation, however, lies in the simple construction of the Wrangler, and complicating the design of the next-generation model may jeopardize this street reputation.

Do you agree with these changes? Or should the Wrangler just be a steel tank, manual gearbox and a twisting Pentastar V6? Diesel, on the other hand, is likely to be popular.
