Whether you like it or not, Apple’s proposed new car is a real prospect, and the Cupertino-based consumer electronics empire is serious about making this happen.
In fact, they are so serious that a new development from the German media reports that Magna Steyr, a company engaged in the production of various cars and trucks, as well as the main supplier of spare parts, will create a new Apple Car.
Magna Steyr is best known for its company, which from the very beginning signed a contract for the production of Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen and Unimog trucks.
Details are scarce, but Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported that about 15-20 “high-class” candidates from the German automotive industry will come together to work on the project. Their identities were not disclosed, but the team tested their experience in sales, software, development and equipment.
The report also says that Apple will primarily focus on launching its new car through car rental and sharing programs that complement Apple’s current dealer networks and service centers.
From what we also know from various reports and rumors, the Apple I Car will not have autonomous driving technology at its disposal.
